Niall Cotter

Niall Cotter is the Chief Financial Officer of Common Wealth Retirement, a mission-driven financial technology company that provides straightforward, portable retirement plans. To advance our mission to make it possible for everyone to have a financially secure retirement, Common Wealth focuses on serving those not covered by workplace retirement plans, including SMBs, not-for-profits, self-employed professionals, and modest earners. Working together with our partners, Common Wealth’s innovations have included helping to create the first retirement plan in Canada for modest earners and the first group retirement plan in Canada for physicians. Common Wealth’s plans have received multiple awards for their innovative design, including a WorldPensionSummit innovation award in technology from Pensions & Investments.

Niall is a senior financial executive with 20 years of experience in leading critical and complex initiatives with exposure to the technology sector, professional services, start-ups, and private equity. Most recently, he was Chief Financial Officer for WeShall Investments, a Canadian private equity firm with a diverse portfolio of companies located in Canada, the US, and the Caribbean. His career includes 16 years at SAP Canada where he led key projects to scale exceptional growth from $150M to $1.2B by optimizing people, processes, and technology. He specializes in collaborating with technology partners, boards of directors and diverse stakeholders to achieve record growth.

Niall holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin, Ireland, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
